MEN’S TENNIS CENTRAL: Tennessee Squares off with No. 8 Florida

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – In another matchup against a ranked opponent, the 22nd-ranked Tennessee Volunteers welcome No. 8 Florida to Knoxville for a top-25 showdown on Sunday at 1 p.m.
It'll be the Vols third of five-straight matches against ranked opponents and the final match of Tennessee's three match homestand.
Admission is free to all regular-season matches and parking is available in Lot N-12 which is located at the corner of Lake Avenue and Volunteer Boulevard. Tennessee (11-4, 2-2 SEC) took down No. 24 South Carolina on Friday night, 5-2, in its last time out. Scott Jones shined in the match as he along with doubles partner Pat Harper clinched the doubles point for the Orange and White.
Jones followed up in singles competition, defeating Raphael Lambling, 6-1, 6-2, on court three. Jones was the first Vol off the court in singles action, turning in a performance that Tennessee head coach Chris Woodruff said was exceptional.
RANKED OPPONENTS: The Vols have played five ranked teams this season and are 3-2 in those matches. UT knocked off No. 29 North Carolina State, 4-1, No. 24 LSU, 4-3, and No. 24 South Carolina, 5-2. Two of the three wins have come on the road at NC State and LSU.
Tennessee's two losses came at No. 28 Texas A&M, 6-1, and against No. 12 TCU, 4-0.
COURT TWO SUCCESS: UT has won on court two 10 times this season for a record of 10-3. Tennessee has not lost a match, going 10-0, when it wins on court two.
SCOUTING THE GATORS: Florida enters Sunday's match as winners of its last five and with an overall record of 11-2 and a perfect 4-0 mark in SEC play. The Gators took down No. 2 Wake Forest and No. 26 Georgia earlier in the week, both by a score of 5-2.
Florida has four players ranked in the ITA's top-125 with Oliver Crawford ranked the highest at No. 24. Sam Riffice is No. 48 nationally, Andy Andrade comes in at No. 54 with Johannes Ingildsen rounding things out at No. 79.
Four doubles pairs rank in the top-80 for Florida with Ingildsen and Brian Berdusco highest at No. 9. Crawford and Andrade are 14th-ranked while Riffice and Andrade rank No. 27. Duarte Vale and McClain Kessler come in at No. 73.
UP NEXT: Tennessee heads to Mississippi to take on No. 10 Mississippi State on Friday, March 22 and closes the road trip on Sunday, March 24 against No. 43 Ole Miss.
