Staines & McGiffin Advance in ITA Fall National Championships

Newport Beach, Calif. – The doubles pair of Kaitlin Staines and Tenika McGiffin advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA Fall National Championships after winning their opening match.
The Aussie duo defeated Lailaa Bashir and Angela Charles-Alfred of Xavier University of Louisiana in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) in the opening round of the championships.
In singles, Staines fell to Oklahoma State's Lisa Marie Rioux 6-4, 6-3. Rebeka Mertena fell to Furman's Katarina Kozarov 7-5, 6-0.
The pair of Staines and McGiffin will continue in the doubles main draw on Thursday. In singles play, Staines and Mertena will compete in the consolation draw.
