KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The 19th-ranked Tennessee men's tennis team won its opening match of the season 4-3 over Charlotte inside Goodfriend Tennis Center.

The Vols (1-0) dropped the doubles point but came back to win four of six first sets in singles. Those courts delivered the points Tennessee needed with Timo Stodder on court 1, Scott Jones on court 3, Preston Touliatos and court 4 and Pat Harper on court 5 winning in straight sets to clinch at 4-1.

The second match of the doubleheader is set for 3 p.m.
