Vols Go Undefeated on Day One of Milwaukee Classic

MILWAUKEE – The Tennessee men's tennis program went 6-0 across the board in Thursday's opening rounds of singles and doubles play at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
Andrew Rogers, a sophomore from Brentwood, Tenn., grinded out a three-set comeback win in his season debut over Iowa's Jonas Larsen, 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-3. Rogers will next face Patrick Kaukovalta (Alabama) in the singles round of 32.
Preston Touliatos improved his singles record to 4-1 on the season with a straight-sets victory over Justyn Levin (Minnesota), 7-6(0), 6-3. The redshirt senior from Birmingham, Ala. will take on Kareem Allaf from Iowa in the round of 32 on Friday.
Junior German Luca Wiedenmann picked up UT's third win of the day with a 6-2, 6-1 edge over Matthew Terry of Cleveland State. The Munich native will face Nebraska's Razvan Grigorescu in Friday's round of 32.
Freshman Aussie Pat Harper rounded out a perfect day of singles for the Vols, topping Navy's Peter Lohrbach 6-3, 6-2 in the opening round. Harper is set to play 2nd-seeded Paul Barretto (California) Friday afternoon.
UT's doubles pairings of Harper/Rogers and Touliatos/Wiedenmann picked up doubles wins to cap off an undefeated showing for the Tennessee Volunteers. Harper/Rogers defeated Schrader/Turzak (NC State), 8-2 while Touliatos/Wiedenmann took care of Krill/Sweet (Wisconsin), 8-1.
Tennessee continues action at the Milwaukee Classic Friday morning, while three other Vols (Scott Jones, Sean Presson and Adam Walton) are set to begin competition at the Gamecock Fall Invitational on Friday.
