Touliatos, Harper Advance to Semifinals at Crimson Tide Four-in-the-Fall

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Tennessee's Preston Touliatos and Pat Harper opened the fall season with a pair of singles wins, advancing to the semifinals of their respective 16-player brackets Friday afternoon at the Crimson Tide Four-in-the-Fall Championships.
Touliatos began singles play with a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 decision against Karol Paluch of Rice in the Crimson Draw. In his quarterfinal match, the redshirt senior from Birmingham, Ala. grinded out a three-set win over Matt Story (Memphis), 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-4.
Harper (Brisbane, Australia) earned his first collegiate singles victory in the opening round of the Houndstooth Draw, taking the first set 6-3 over Stefano Tsorotiotis (Oklahoma) before his opponent retired in the second set. The Tennessee rookie advanced to the semifinals of the bracket with his second win of the day – 6-3, 6-1 over Tulane's Eric Wagner.
Luca Wiedenmann (Munich, Germany) split two singles matches in the Crimson Draw, earning his first win of the season in the consolation quarters over Oklahoma's Jochen Bertsch, 7-6(3), 6-1.
Knoxville native Sean Presson picked up the first win of his college career, as the freshman topped Akos Kotorman (Tulane) in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4 in the first round of the Houndstooth singles draw.
Both UT doubles pairings came up short in their season debuts. Harper/Touliatos dropped a pro set to Princeton's Rodriguez/Seggerman, 8-6, while Presson/Wiedenmann fell to Cutting/Stevenson (Memphis), 8-4.
