KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 10th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers wrap up the month of August with a home non-conference matchup against the Wright State Raiders on Thursday, Aug. 30. First touch is slated for 7 p.m. at Regal Soccer Stadium.
Admission and parking for all matches at Regal Soccer Stadium is free of charge. Gates will open at 6 p.m., and fans should be reminded that UT's clear bag policy will be in effect.
The match will be streamed live on SEC Network+, available online and through the WatchESPN app. Live stats will be provided via SIDEARM Stats.
Tennessee Soccer will host 80's night on Thursday, with 80's-themed music and promos running throughout the match. Other gameday promotions include $1 hot dog vouchers for the first 500 fans and a free Kids' Corner.
LAST TIME OUT: Tennessee scored three goals in a span of 10 minutes as the Vols topped Xavier 3-0 Sunday afternoon. Amy Thompson (37'), Katie Cousins (47') and Anna Bialczak (47') each found the back of the net for UT.
TOP-10, TOP-10: UT was tabbed 10th in the latest edition of the United Soccer Coaches national poll. This marks Tennessee's highest ranking in the poll since Oct. 30, 2007 when the Vols were chosen 9th.
PERFECT AT HOME: The Vols own an unblemished 3-0-0 ledger at home and have yet to surrender a goal this season at Regal Soccer Stadium. UT goalie Shae Yanez has recorded 266 minutes of scoreless goalkeeping in home matches and currently ranks second in the SEC with a 0.24 goals-against average overall.
REGAL MILESTONE APPROACHING: A Tennessee win over Wright State would be UT's 150th victory at Regal Soccer Stadium. The Vols are 149-55-12 (.718) at their home venue since the program's inception in 1996.
THOMPSON'S HOT START: Freshman forward Amy Thompson has connected on three goals through the first four matches of the season. In terms of goal-scoring, Thompson is off to the best start by a UT true freshman since 2001, when Freshman All-American Sue Flamini also had three goals in the first four matches of her UT career.
SCOUTING WRIGHT STATE: The Raiders are looking for their first win on the young season with a 0-3-1 record over the first two weekends. Thursday's match at Tennessee will be the third-straight road contest for Wright State.
WSU was chosen third in the Horizon League preseason poll in a vote of the conference's head coaches. The Raiders received one first-place vote in the league's rankings.
SERIES HISTORY: Thursday's matchup will be the first regular-season contest between the Vols and Raiders. The Vols opened the 2017 campaign with a 3-0 exhibition win over Wright State as Danielle Marcano, Bunny Shaw and Ariel Kupritz tallied goals for UT.
UP NEXT: Tennessee returns to action Sunday, Sept. 2 against cross-system foe UT Martin. Kickoff between the Vols and Skyhawks is set for 2 p.m. at Regal Soccer Stadium.
