Three Vols Advance to ITA Ohio Valley Round of 16

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Timo Stodder, Preston Touliatos and Scott Jones all won a pair of singles matches Friday to advance to the round of 16 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships at Goodfriend Tennis Center.
Stodder, the tournament's top seed and a finalist last year, picked up a pair of straight-set victories. He beat Steven Karl of Dayton 6-2, 6-3, followed by a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Matt Story of Memphis.
Touliatos defeated Vanderbilt's George Harwell 7-6(1), 6-1 before rallying for a 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 win over ETSU's Frazier Rengifo. The Tennessee senior reached the quarterfinals of the tournament last season.
Jones, seeded seventh, made his way to the fourth round with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over Tomas Rodriguez of Chattanooga before breezing past Carson Haskins of Indiana 6-3, 6-0.
Stodder and Touliatos, seeded second together, are one of two Tennessee doubles pairs reaching the round of 16. Pat Harper and Andrew Rogers, the 11 seeds, also progressed to Saturday's play.
