MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Tennessee soccer team looks to extend its season-opening winning streak Sunday against Middle Tennessee at 6 p.m. Eastern (5 p.m. Central).Â
The Vols (5-0) are tied with their best start in program history after a 3-0 victory over Belmont on Friday. Middle Tennessee (0-3) had a game scheduled for Friday against Middle Tennessee, but it was postponed because of rain.Â

OPENING NOTES
- Tennessee is off to a 5-0 start, the best opening to a season for UT since going a program-best 5-0 to begin 2012. UT's longest program winning streak is nine matches (2004).
- The Vols are now halfway through non-conference play with four matches to go before opening the SEC season at Kentucky.
- Newcomers Khadija Shaw and McKinley Burkett lead the Vols early with two goals each heading into the weekend. Shaw scored twice in the 6-1 win over ETSU. Burkett scored against ETSU and added an early game-winner over Charleston. (Update: Shaw recorded a hat trick on Friday, giving her five goals on the season.)
- Tennessee has four shutouts through five games. The Vols had eight shutouts last year.
THE TEAM
- Tennessee's 24-player roster features nine newcomers and 15 returners, including last year's All-SEC and NSCAA all-region honorees Maya Neal and Rylie O'Keefe. Sophomore midfielder Katie Cousins is also back after playing for Team USA at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup last year.
- O'Keefe accumulated the most points last season among the returners, totaling 19 points on five goals and nine assists while starting all 21 matches.
- The new class of 7 freshmen and 2 transfers was ranked 11th in the country by TDS. Five were ranked in the IMG Academy Top 150. Khadija Shaw signed with the Vols after an All-American junior college career.
