Presson Joins UT Men's Tennis
November 14, 2017 | Men's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee men's tennis head coach Chris Woodruff announced an addition to the fall 2018 squad from inside city limits: Sean Presson.Â
Presson, from Knoxville, is the second Vol to join in the November signing period alongside Nicaise Muamba (Laval, Quebec), who will join the team in January.Â
Presson is the No. 1 recruit in the state of Tennessee by TennisRecruiting.net. He has rapidly climbed the national recruiting rankings in the last year, going from 213 in 2016 to a career-best 114 this week. He closed out October winning the Icy Hot Southern L2 Championships, beating four top-100 players.Â
"It's always great to get athletes from the state of Tennessee, but when you are fortunate enough to get one locally it's really special," Woodruff said. "Sean Presson is getting better each day. Like Nicaise, he is a strong and agile tennis player. He controls his own destiny, and we are hoping to augment his game to new heights."Â
He is set to be the second in-state Vol on the squad alongside current freshman Andrew Rogers, who is from Brentwood.
