Wiedenmann Reaches CCB Final to Close Fall Tennis

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Tennessee sophomore Luca Wiedenmann closed out the fall competition by reaching his first singles final Sunday at the CCB Collegiate Invitational.
Wiedenmann won three matches to reach the title match, including a three-set victory over Alabama's Zhe Zhou in Saturday's semifinals. He lost in the title match of the white draw to Bojan Jankuloivski of Miami, 6-2, 7-5.
He finished the fall with an 8-6 record. He also teamed up with redshirt freshman Ryan Smith to go 2-1 in doubles, Smith's first collegiate victories.
Freshmen Andrew Rogers and Adam Walton both went 2-2 in singles over the weekend. Rogers rebounded from an 0-2 opening day to win his final two matches, including a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Samford Aleksandar Petrovic to close out the tournament.
