Vol Trio Advances to ITA Regional Quarterfinals

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee's Timo Stodder, Scott Jones and Preston Touliatos won again Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships.
The three Vols play at Goodfriend Tennis Center, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, and the singles semifinals will follow in the afternoon. The finals are scheduled for Monday.
Touliatos is the only unseeded player remaining from the 128-player draw. The junior from Birmingham, Alabama, earned his first career ranked win, ousting seventh-seeded and No. 74-ranked Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff of Louisville 6-4, 6-3.
The Vol junior, who missed last year with injury, is now 7-1 to start the fall. He faces top-seeded William Bushamuka of Kentucky.
Stodder, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, dispatched of Vanderbilt's Alex Ross 6-3, 6-0. He plays his first seeded opponent of the tournament: No. 8 Antonio Cembellin of Indiana.
Jones, the No. 11 seed, capitalized on his fifth match point, defeating 31st-seeded Brandon Lancaster of Louisville 6-3, 7-6. He will face third-seeded Daniel Valent of Vanderbilt.
