Brown Named SEC Women's Outdoor Co-Runner of Year

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tennessee senior Felicia Brown has been named the 2016 SEC Outdoor Track and Field Women's Co-Runner of the Year, as announced by the Southeastern Conference on Wednesday.
The SEC announced its 2016 Outdoor Track and Field Awards on Wednesday, recognizing outstanding performances during the past outdoor season, as voted on by the league's 15 head coaches. Brown was named the Co-Runner of the Year with Arkansas' Dominique Scott-Efurd.
Brown is the first Tennessee woman to be named SEC Outdoor Runner of the Year. She is the eighth Tennessee woman to earn a major SEC outdoor individual honor, joining Tianna Madison (2004 SEC Freshman Field Athlete of the Year), Sara Bowman (2006 Freshman Runner of the Year, 2008 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, 2009 Scholar Athlete of the Year), Nia Ali (2007 Freshman Runner of the Year), Annie Alexander (2008 Freshman Field Athlete of the Year and 2012 Field Athlete of the Year), Phoebe Wright (2010 Scholar-Athlete of the Year), Chanelle Price (2011 Scholar-Athlete of the Year) and Ellen Wortham (2012 Scholar-Athlete of the Year).
Brown set a personal record of 22.26 in the 200 meters at the SEC Championships, which was the second-fastest time in the world. She was the No. 2 scorer at the SEC Championships with 18.50 points. Brown also took third in the 100 meters with a time of 11.32 and earned bronze as the anchor of UT's 4x400 squad.
Brown is 9-0 in 200m finals in 2016 and 4-0 in the outdoor season. At the NCAA East Preliminary Round, Brown took first place in the 200 meters, sixth in the 100m, third in the 4x100 and first in the 4x400 to qualify in those events for next week's NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. She is also on the Watch List for The Bowerman.
Brown has also qualified for next month's U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100 meters and the 200 meters.
