Who's Playing?
Anna Newell, AJ Newell, Lucia Polo, Hannah Pietila, Blakesly Warren
Action will begin Monday morning on the Tom Fazio Course at the Red Sky Golf Club, which has been rated as the No. 1 course in Colorado. Live scoring for the 54-hole event will be available on GolfStat.com.
The Lady Vols will travel the same lineup from the Cougar Classic. Freshman Anna Newell leads Tennessee to the GolfWeek Challenge after finishing T-11th in the Cougar Classic. The freshman carries a team-best average of 72.80.
Anna Newell is joined by sister AJ Newell at the top of the lineup. The Florida native carries a 73.20 stroke average through five rounds. With them, Lucia Polo, Hannah Pietila and Blakesly Warren will also compete.
"I'm hoping they will continue their strong play from Charleston at this tournament," head coach Judi Pavon. "They competed really well and played smart golf. This course has tough greens and we will need to pay close attention to do our best."
The field of 17 teams includes Campbell, Colorado, Denver, Georgetown, Illinois State, Jacksonville State, Long Beach State, Louisville, Nebraska, New Mexico, Pepperdine, Stetson, TCU, Tennessee, Texas State, Toledo, and UTSA.
"This is a good field, but not nearly as strong as we played in Charleston last week," Pavon said. "This will be the only time this season we will see some of these teams, so it will be a good test to measure ourselves against them."
