Who's Playing?
Anna Newell, AJ Newell, Lucia Polo, Hannah Pietila, Mason Chen
"There are 10 top-25 teams in the field of play, so it will be a really good test for us," head coach Judi Pavon said. "After two second-place finishes, this will be a good chance to see some teams we haven't seen since Charleston and some that we haven't seen at all. From this tournament, we will be able to gauge how we look at the end of the fall season."
The field includes 18 teams, including the #2 ranked South Carolina. Along with South Carolina, Tennessee will face UNCW, Alabama, #10 Arizona, #21 UCF, #4 Duke, Florida, Michigan State, #16 N.C. State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, #23 Ohio State, #17 Oklahoma State, Penn State, Purdue, #20 Virginia and #12 Wake Forest.
The Lady Vols will play the same lineup as the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships tournament with Hannah Pietila, Lucia Polo, Mason Chen, Anna Newell and A.J. Newell.
Anna Newell is currently tanked 60th in the country. A.J. Newell follows closely behind in 67th. Polo jumped up to become the 78th-ranked player. After a second-place finish last weekend, Pietila moved into the top-100 at 81.
"We played really well at Mercedes, but did struggle on day one," Pavon said. "I would like to see us get off to a better start. I want to see them continue to play determined golf and to be competitive. I'd like several of them to finish in the top-25, which is our goal this week."
Live stats will be available at golfstat.com and will be posted to the tournament central at the conclusion of each round.
