Day One At Landfall Tradition In The Books
October 24, 2014 | Women's Golf
"Today was a really good team score on this tough course," head coach Judi Pavon said. "AJ played awesome and really kept us in the tournament. Lucia (Polo) had a solid round, as did Anna (Newell). We made a couple mistakes that kept us from having a really good round so we are hoping to clean those up tomorrow."
A.J. Newell finished the day in a tie for third place. Sophomore Lucia Polo shot just one-over par with a score of 73 and ended the day in a 28th-place tie. Anna Newell shot a 74 and finished in a tie for 36th place.
Mason Chen rounded out the Lady Vols scoring with a round of 77 (+5). Hannah Pietila shot seven-over par at 79.
Purdue held the lead for the most of the day and finished at the top of the field with a score of 283 (-5). Wake Forest came in a second place shooting two-under par. Nanna Madsen of South Carolina led the group of individuals shooting a tournament low 66 (-6).
The Lady Vols will be back in action tomorrow morning for the second round. Live stats will be available at golfstat.com and will be posted to the tournament central at the conclusion of each round.
