Looking Back...#16 Jenny Steele
1996-99 | OF | 5-8 | S/R | Soddy Daisy, Tenn.
Steele was a founding member of the Tennessee softball program, signing the first-ever Tennessee softball scholarship, and helped lay the foundation for the Lady Vols who would follow. Her 1996 freshman season stands as one of the best showings by a rookie in UT softball history. Before a broken finger sidelined her for the final 19 games, she hit .391 with 63 hits, one double, 15 RBIs, 44 runs and three stolen bases. Steele would finish her UT career with a .307 batting average over 252 games played. She also excelled in the classroom, earning NFCA Scholar-Athlete Team honors in 1998 and 1999.
THROWBACK NOTES FROM HER BIO!
- Nicknamed "Daisy" by her teammates because of her hometown
- Came to UT because of the opportunities to start a new tradition and play for the-head coach Jim Beitia
