Weekly Announces Hiring of Ehren Earleywine to Coaching Staff
June 09, 2026 | Softball
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee softball head coach Karen Weekly announced the hiring of associate head coach Ehren Earleywine as the Lady Vols' hitting coach on Tuesday.
One of the most accomplished offensive minds in softball, Earleywine brings more than two decades of coaching experience to Rocky Top, including 14 seasons as a head coach and over 600 career victories. A three-time conference coach of the year, he joins Tennessee after serving as associate head coach at Texas during the 2026 season, which ended with the Longhorns winning the Women's College World Series.
"I am thrilled to welcome Ehren Earlywine to the Tennessee Lady Vol softball family," Weekly said. "Ehren is a proven winner and one of the most brilliant minds in college softball. His resume speaks for itself. In both head and assistant coach roles, Ehren has achieved tremendous success everywhere he has been. He understands how to create relationships with student-athletes that allow them to become the best versions of themselves. I have known Ehren for over 25 years and am beyond excited to work together to bring championships to Rocky Top."
Prior to his stint at Texas, Earleywine helped engineer a historic season at Ole Miss in 2024. Serving as the Rebels' hitting coach, he played a key role in leading Ole Miss to its first-ever appearance at the Women's College World Series and a consensus top-10 national finish.
Under Earleywine's direction, the Rebels shattered multiple single-season offensive records, setting program highs in runs, hits, doubles, home runs, RBIs and total bases. Ole Miss also produced a program-record number of All-SEC and All-Region selections while the coaching staff earned NFCA South Region Staff of the Year honors.
Earleywine spent 11-years as head coach at Missouri from 2007-18. During his time in Columbia, he transformed Missouri into a national power, leading the Tigers to three Women's College World Series appearances, eight NCAA Super Regionals and the program's first three 50-win seasons.
From 2009-11, Missouri reached three consecutive Women's College World Series and recorded three straight 50-win campaigns. Earleywine also guided the Tigers to two conference championships and six consecutive NCAA Regional titles from 2008-13.
Before taking over at Missouri, Earleywine spent five seasons at Georgia Tech, including the final three as head coach. He led the Yellow Jackets to five consecutive NCAA Regional appearances and helped establish one of the most prolific offenses in ACC history. In 2005, Georgia Tech captured both the ACC regular-season and tournament championships, earning Earleywine ACC Coach of the Year honors.
"I am incredibly excited to join the Tennessee softball program," Earleywine said. "This is a place defined by a rich tradition of winning, passionate people, and a vision that aligns perfectly with where I want to be both personally and professionally for the long term. I want to specifically thank Karen Weekly and the University of Tennessee administration for the opportunity to be part of something so special. I'm honored by their trust and look forward to helping build on the championship standard that makes Tennessee softball one of the premier programs in the country.
"I'm leaving Texas with nothing but gratitude. It's been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life, and I'll always be proud to have been a Longhorn. My sincere thanks to Coach Mike White and the administration for their belief, support, and professionalism from day one. The program is in great hands and will continue to win championships for many years to come."
A native of Missouri and graduate of Westminster College, Earleywine also enjoyed an accomplished playing career in men's major fastpitch softball. A four-time member and two-time captain of Team USA men's fastpitch softball, he earned four international medals and was a six-time American Softball Association All-American.
