Whoriskey Bows Out of Riviera/ITA All-American

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Junior Caitlin Whoriskey, the lone remaining University of Tennessee women's tennis player at the Riviera/Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships, was knocked out of the competition after being defeated in her third match in the qualifying singles draw on Wednesday in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
The East Sandwich, Mass., native, ranked No. 37 in the nation and seeded 16th at the tournament, was defeated by Chelsea Gullickson from Southeastern Conference rival Georgia in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Whoriskey had advanced to the third round after defeating a pair of opponents the day before.
The Lady Vols will next be in action Oct. 23-27 when they travel to the campus of Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C., to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Region Championships.
