April 22, 2026 | Women's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Two members of the University of Tennessee women's tennis team earned All-SEC honors Wednesday, as announced by the league office. First-year standout Katrina Scott earned first-team plaudits, while senior Leyla Britez Risso was named to the second team.
"It says a lot that Katrina and Leyla both made the All-Conference team," Tennessee head coach Alison Ojeda said. "They have both been exceptional this spring, and if you really look at the group of athletes on this list, it's an impressive list to be on!"
With two selections, Tennessee has now earned multiple All-SEC selections in six straight seasons (two in 2026, two in 2025, three in 2024, three in 2023, three in 2022, two in 2021). Scott's selection marked the fifth consecutive season with a first team selection for the Lady Vols. The two first-time honorees now bring Tennessee's total to 43 All-SEC athletes, with 73 total honors, since 1980.
Katrina Scott | 2026 First Team All-SEC
Scott finished her first collegiate regular season with a 7-4 singles record, all at the court one position. Five of her seven singles victories came against ranked opponents and all five of her ranked wins [remove] finished in straight sets.
Against Texas on March 22, she defeated ITA's then-No. 1 ranked singles player, Carmen Herea, in Tennessee's upset win over the then-No. 7 Longhorns, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2. Scott's win was the first singles victory by a Lady Vol over even a national top-three opponent since at least the 2020 dual season.
Scott earned SEC Player of the Week plaudits in the final weekend of the regular season. That honor came after she defeated Ole Miss' No. 18 Emily Welker in dominant fashion, 6-0, 6-2, and was the first off the court in the 4-1 victory over the Rebels on April 9. Two days later, she took down No. 26 Cadence Brace, the top-rated player in college tennis per UTR (then-11.52 UTR), in straight sets to seal the upset win over No. 12 LSU on April 11.
The native of Los Angeles defeated five top-50 singles opponents, including Arkansas' No. 23 Carolina Gomez Alonso (March 8), Auburn's No. 33 DJ Bennett (March 12), as well as the aforementioned Herea, Welker and Brace.
She posted a 9-4 doubles record in her debut season, including winning seven of her last eight matches to close the regular season. After starting the season 3-4 in doubles points, Tennessee won 10 of its final 14 doubles rounds following Scott's addition to the lineup. She earned the clinching victory to seal the doubles point on five occasions, with Tennessee posting a 4-1 dual record in those five matches.
Scott currently ranks as ITA's No. 10-ranked singles player.
Leyla Britez Risso | 2026 Second Team All-SEC
A senior from Asunción, Paraguay, Britez Risso finished the 2026 regular season with a 16-1 singles record, including a perfect 11-0 ledger on her home courts in Knoxville. She opened the dual season on an 11-match win streak, which extended to a 14-match streak including her last three matches of individual action. She collected six ranked singles wins with a 6-1 record against ranked opponents this dual season, including four top-50 wins.
Britez Risso logged two crucial singles victories at the ITA National Indoor Team Championships, aiding Tennessee to wins over No. 15 Virginia (Feb. 7) and No. 8 Oklahoma State (Feb. 8), clinching the 4-2 victory for Tennessee in the former.
In SEC play, she delivered an 11-1 singles record, including a comeback victory over Vanderbilt's No. 25 Mia Yamakita, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1, for her highest-ranked singles victory of the dual season on March 27.
Britez Risso posted a 7-4 doubles record in SEC competition, including a 6-2 mark in conference play alongside Catherine Aulia. She won six of her final seven doubles decisions to end the regular season. She tallied three ranked doubles wins, defeating No. 75 Martinez/Amariei of Texas A&M (March 20), No. 71 Ionescu/McNeil of Texas (March 22) and No. 30 Erickson/McDonald of LSU (April 11).
