University of Tennessee Lady Vol softball coach Jim Beitia has made the decision to resign after six seasons according to an announcement made by Tennessee women's athletics director Joan Cronan.
"I appreciate what Jim Beitia has done in helping us to launch our softball program and I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors," said Cronan.
Having developed UT's softball program from its infancy, Beitia recently concluded his sixth campaign at the helm of the Lady Volunteers, who finished 24-35 overall and 9-20 in the Southeastern Conference to miss the league's tournament for the second straight season. During his tenure with UT, Beitia guided the Lady Vols to a 233-163 overall record.
"We will immediately begin a nationwide search to attract a candidate who can help us recognize the goal of becoming a national contender," concluded Cronan.
In the interim, current Lady Vol assistant coaches Bob Brock and Dayna Carter will continue managing the day-to-day operations of the softball program.
