- Won the Indoor Most Improved Athlete Award and the Outdoor Most Valuable Field Athlete
- Competed in his first-ever NCAA Indoor Championship, clearing 17-4 1/2, placing 16th and garnering USTFCCCA Indoor All-America Second Team acclaim
- Sailed over a career-best 17-8 1/4 at the Virginia Tech Final Qualifier on March 3, finishing second and putting himself in position for an NCAA berth
- That effort moved him to ninth on UT[apos]s all-time indoor performers list
- Posted a then-career-best placing of third at the SEC Indoor Championships, clearing the bar at 17-3 3/4 in the pole vault
- Opened the season with a then-career-best clearance of 17-5 1/2 to win at the Kentucky Invitational
- Followed that with a 17-4 1/2 mark for runner-up honors at the Auburn Invitational
- Fourth in the Gold Division of the Akron Invitational, sailing over 17-3 3/4
- Second at the Texas A&M Mondo Challenge, matching teammate Robert Rasnick with a 16-6 clearance as UT sported a 1-2-3 finish in the vault
- Tied for eighth in the championship division of the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at 17-0 3/4
- Scored at the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the first time in his career, finishing eighth with a height of 17-8 1/2
- Qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a clearance of 17-5 1/2 (eighth-best) at the NCAA East Preliminary Round
- Improved his PR to 17-9 1/4 just before the NCAA meet at the Friday Night Heights Series in Knoxville on June 1
- Earned a then-outdoor PR and fourth place at the SEC Outdoor Championship, clearing a height of 17-8 1/2
- Tried his hand at the javelin for the first time as a Vol and wrangled a third-place finish with a fling of 189-0 at the SEC/Big Ten Challenge

- Also cleared that height at the NCAA East Preliminary Round (t16th), the Vanderbilt Invitational (1st) and the Sea Ray Relays (2nd/open division)
- Was runner-up in college division at the Penn Relays, flying over 16-2 ¾

- Competed unattached and cleared 15-1 at Virginia Tech Invitational

HIGH SCHOOL
- 2009 state runner-up in the pole vault with a 14-6 clearance
- Made that vault with 14 stitches in his left hand, which was injured when he broke a pole four days earlier
- Won the region title at 15 feet
- Competed in the Great 8 Meet as a senior and junior
- Placed twice at state as a wrestler, including once as runner-up
