Bio
Cherelle Thompson made her first appearance in the summer games by competing with Trinidad & Tobago in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The former All-American swimming will competed in the 50-meter freestyle. She helped the Lady Vols to top-15 finishes at the NCAA Championships during her three seasons on Rocky Top, including third-place finish in 2013.

SUMMER 2021 - TOKYO OLYMPICS
- Made her Olympic debut, posting a time of 26.19 in the 50-meter freestyle for Trinidad and Tobago
2014-15 - SENIOR
DUAL MEET RECAP
- Swam the anchor leg in the 200-yard medley relay en route to her team's (Molly Hannis, Faith Johnson and Harper Bruens) victory in the season-opening race at UNCW
- Swam a 24.15 in the 50-yard freestyle at UNCW, good for second place
- Finished in second place in the 50 Free at Queens (23.51)
- Earned another second place finish in the 50 Free at Texas A&M (22.74), which qualified for a NCAA b-cut time
- Finished with a regular-season best 52.74 in the 100 Free at Texas A&M
- Competed as a sprint freestyler, representing UT in nine 50 Free events and four 100 Free events (as well as 3 relay events in the 400 Free Relay)
- Swam a career-best 22.43 during the preliminary session of the 50 Free
- Finished eighth in the consolation final, swimming a 22.86.
- Swam a career-best 50.92 in the preliminaries of the 100 Free
- Earned a bronze medal in the 200 Free Relay with teammates Faith Johnson, Amy Lubawy and Harper Bruens
- Swam the second leg of the 200 Free Relay, helping Tennessee win the consolation final with teammates Faith Johnson, Amy Lubawy and Harper Bruens
2013-14 - JUNIOR
DUAL MEET RECAP- Finished second in the tri-meet in the 50-yard freestyle (23.49) against Virginia Tech and Missouri
- Swam a couple of 100-yard freestyle leadoff splits this spring, including a career-high 51.37 against the Bulldogs
- Her 23.10 time against UGA qualifies as a season high
- Earned a pair of third-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle agsint both Georgia and Florida
- Competed in five meets during the fall semester, primarily swimming the 50 freestyle
- Won the 50 freestyle to open the season at UNC Wilmington in 23.96 and recorded four top-three finishes in the event during the fall semester
- Had a fall-best time of 23.50 in the 50 free on the road against Indiana and Kentucky
- Finished eighth in the 50 freestyle, swimming a 22.84 time, less than a second behind first place
- Earned second and a silver medal in the 200 free relay with teammates Faith Johnson, Harper Bruens and Lindsay Gendron
- Helped the Vols to 5th place in the 200 freestyle relay.
2012-13 - SOPHOMORE
DUAL MEET RECAP- Became eligible for competition in January and made her career debut on the road against Virginia Tech, placing sixth in the 50 free (24.17) and the 100 free (24.17)
- Took third in 50 free (23.59) and second in 100 free (52.88) against Vandy
- Recorded two career bests to conclude the season at the Last Chance Meet. She clocked a time of 22.79 in the 50 freestyle and 51.44 in the 100 freestyle
- Scored points for the Lady Vols in one event, taking 22nd in 50 free (22.97) making a career best time
- Finished 43rd in the 100 free (51.49) and 100 breast prelims (1:09.28).
