FALL SEASON
- Recorded a career-best performance at the Tennessee Fall Invite, going a combined 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles (partnered with Kaitlin Staines) over the course of the weekend.
- Totaled three wins in both singles and doubles, advancing to the semifinals in doubles (partnered with Gabby Schuck) and to the singles round of 32 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional.
- Posted a 1-1 record in singles at the ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
- Named a doubles All-American with Kaitlin Staines after earning the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Individual Championships for doubles. At the NCAA championships, fell in the round of 32.
- In Round of 64 NCAA Tournament play, defeated Furman's 78th-ranked doubles team of Katarina Kozarov and Julia Adams, 6-3.
- As a doubles team with Kaitlin Staines, ascended to No. 6 in the ITA doubles rankings, the highest ranking by a Tennessee doubles team since the 2013 season's final rankings, when Kata Szekely and Brynn Boren ranked No. 5 in the nation.
- Registered her sixth ranked doubles win of the season in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals, taking down Texas A&M's 32nd-ranked duo of Jayci Goldsmith and Tatiana Makarova for the second time of the season, 6-3.
- On her Senior Day, achieved the highest ranked singles win of her career, defeating Kentucky's 15th-ranked Justina Mikulskyte, 7-6 (6), 6-2.
- Defeated Vanderbilt's No. 1 doubles team and the No. 77 ranked duo in the nation, Emily Smith and Emma Kurtz, 7-5.
- Helped Tennessee win the doubles point in three straight road matches against Alabama, Missouri and Arkansas with wins at the No. 1 spot in the lineup alongside Kaitlin Staines.
- Registered her third ranked win of the season against Auburn's No. 91 Jaeda Daniel, 6-2, 6-1, to help Tennessee defeat the Tigers on the road.
- Helped Tennessee defeat Ole Miss with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the lead singles spot over Sabina Machalova. Also defeated Ole Miss' Alexa Bortles and Sabina Machalova in doubles, 6-2.
- Helped secure the doubles point for Tennessee against Florida at the No. 1 doubles spot with a 6-1 win over Victoria Emma and McCartney Kessler.
- For the second time of the season, defeated Jessica Golovin and Eden Richardson -- the defending NCAA doubles champions and No. 3 ranked duo at the time -- by a score of 6-3.
- Defeated Texas A&M's No. 1 singles player, Katya Townsend, during Tennessee's upset win over the No. 21 Aggies, 6-2, 6-3. In doubles, took down the 31st-ranked doubles duo in the nation of Jayci Goldsmith and Tatiana Makarova, 6-2.
- Made season debut in the ITA singles rankings at No. 65 on March 5.
- Recorded two doubles victories in Tennessee's pair of wins over UT Martin (6-1 over Jemima Potter and Asel Jumamukhambetova) and ETSU (6-3 over Laylo Bakhodirova and Alejandro Morales).
- Defeated 17th-ranked Silvia Ambrosio of Purdue at the No. 1 singles spot, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, during the Lady Vols' 7-0 win over the Boilermakers.
- Defeated Indiana's Madison Appel in singles, 6-1, 6-2 to help Tennessee defeat the Hoosiers, 5-2.
- Registered two more doubles wins with Kaitlin Staines over Indiana's Madison Appel and Jelly Bozovic (6-2) and South Florida's Vanja Klaric and Ana Roman (6-1) to improve to 13-0 as a duo.
- Won 11th straight doubles match with a 6-2 victory over Old Dominion's Holly Hutchinson and Brooke Pilkington, partnered with Kaitlin Staines. in singles against Presbyterian, fought back from down 5-1 in the second set to defeat Sydney Patton, 6-1, 7-5.
- Posted two doubles wins with Kaitlin Staines at ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Tallahassee, Fla., including a 6-4 victory over LSU's Eden Richardson and Jessica Golovin -- the No. 9 ranked doubles pair in the country and the defending NCAA doubles champions.
- Captured the doubles title with Kaitlin Staines at the Michigan Invitational on Jan. 21 after going 3-0 together for the weekend.
- Won two doubles matches and a singles match in the spring season opener against North Alabama on Jan. 14. Partnered with Kaitlin Staines to record wins of 6-1 and 6-4 and defeated Claudia Arroyo on Court 1 in singles, 6-0, 6-1.

FALL SEASON
- Finished second in the Flight 2 doubles draw at the Debbie Southern Fall Classic with freshman Tenika McGiffin, defeating Texas' Marta Perez-Mur and Dani Wagland, 8-6, in the first round and Ohio State's Olivia Sneed and Mary Beth Hurley, 8-7, in the second.
- Had a strong showing at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, advancing to the semifinals in doubles with Gabby Schuck and to the round of 16 in singles.
- Won seven of her first nine doubles matches to begin the season and earned a spot in the ITA fall rankings, coming in at No. 44 with McGiffin.
- Won 11 of her last 13 matches in doubles with partner Gabby Schuck to end the season, including eight against SEC opponents
- Picked up a 6-3 win over Vanderbilt's duo of Kurtz and Smith (March 23) to begin a four-match winning streak against conference foes; capped off by a 6-4 victory over the dup of Cortina-Pou and Selim from Alabama (March 31) to clinch the doubles point against the Crimson Tide and help the Lady Vols to their second SEC win of the season
- Posted a career-high six-match winning streak from March 18-31, which began with a 6-3 win over Lipscomb's Popova and Brooks; no match was closer than 6-4 during the run
- Clinched the doubles point in six contests, including a 7-5 match against Missouri's Ismail and Nash to help Tennessee defeat the Tigers in a 4-0 matchup
- Sealed the doubles point for UT in its opening-round matchup against Oregon in the NCAA Tournament, defeating the duo of Kahfiani/Tobita, 6-3, on Court 2
- Went 2-0 in doubles during the SEC Tournament, earning wins over Alabama's Hinton and Cortina-Pou, 6-1, and Ole Miss' Machalova and Jandric, 6-3
- Defeated No. 15 Auburn's Alizee Michaud, 6-1, 6-4, to help the Lady Vols take their first ranked match and conference win of the season
- Claimed a pair of singles wins in UT's opening weekend with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Old Dominion's Holly Hutchinson and a 6-0, 6-3 victory over William and Mary's 68th-ranked Clara Tanielian
2016-17 - SOPHOMORE

FALL SEASON
- Had a strong doubles run during the first half of the fall season with partner Eve Repic, earning a trip to the Riveria/ITA Women's All-American Championships and a quarterfinal appearance at the Ohio Valley Regional Championships
- Beat the No. 22 duo in the country in Wake Forest's Guerin and Ulyashchenko, 8-7 (3), with Eve Repic for their first win of the season
- Picked up another ranked victory in doubles after downing Cal State Northridge's Hsu and Poei, the 59th team in the preseason rankings, in a 8-3 match during the opening round of qualifying of the All-American Championships
- Won a pair of matches in singles during the Ohio Valley Regional, beating Louisville's Abbie Pahz and Cincinnati's Kelly Poggensee-Wei to advance to the Round of 16
- Paired with Gabby Schuck to become the first doubles team to win a Top-5 match since 2012, defeating No. 5 team in the country in Kowase and Sanford, 6-4, from Ohio State in the Tennessee Fall Invite
- Continued to compete with Schuck in doubles throughout the spring, posting a team-leading 19-8 record during dual-match play
- Hammond began the spring on a hot streak, taking nine of her first 10 matches in singles and 10 of her first 11 in doubles
- Earned SEC Player of the Week honors on Jan. 25 after going 4-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles throughout the four matches over the weekend. She also clinched UT’s match against Middle Tennessee as well as the doubles point against Chattanooga.
- During a seven-match win streak from Jan. 21 until Feb. 5, Hammond downed No. 33 Kimmy Guerin, 6-4, 6-3, to help the Vols take a crucial match over Wake Forest. The win marked her fourth against a Top-40 opponent.
- Played a key role in Tennessee's wins over Alabama, Missouri, Ole Miss and Winthrop down the final stretch of the Vols' season
- Went on a four-match winning streak in doubles during the final weekend of the regular season through the opening round of the NCAA Championships, during which UT went 3-1
- Helped the Vols defeat Winthrop in the Round of 64 in the NCAA Tournament, taking a 6-4, 6-1 match over a Caitlin Cridland in singles and a 6-3 victory in doubles over Cridland and Soloveva

- Picked up her second win against a ranked opponent after defeating No. 78 Aldila Sutjiadi from Kentucky in the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regionals
- Defeated Akvile Parazinskaite of Kentucky to advance to the semifinals of the Ohio Valley Regionals
- Went on a seven-match winning streak to open her collegiate career for singles
- Picked up her first ranked doubles win in the final weekend of the fall season, beating the 35th-ranked duo of Paige Hourigan and Kendal Woodard from Georgia Tech
- Clinched the doubles point with Eve Repic after defeating Wake Forest's Anna Ulyashchenko and Kimmy Guerin, 6-4, on Court 1
- Went on a five-match winning streak in singles from January 30 until February 14, including a win over No. 56 Rasheed McAdoo from Georgia Tech
- Picked up her first win in singles against a top-25 opponent after defeating Auburn's Andie Dikosavljevic, who was ranked No. 21 in the country, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4
- Downed the No. 32-ranked duo of Erin Routliffe and Andie Daniell, 6-3, to clinch the doubles point against Alabama
- Clinched the upset victory over No. 46 Alabama with a come-from-behind win over No. 31 Andie Daniell, 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3, on Court 1, giving the Vols their first win over the Crimson Tide since 2010
- Came from behind to defeat the 73rd-ranked team of Bea Machado Santos and Brianna Lashway, 7-5, from Missouri
- Won her second singles match against a top-30 opponent with a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Ole Miss' Arianne Hartono, who was ranked 29th, in the the opening round of the SEC Tournament
- Defeated Clemson's 51st-ranked Ayan Broomfield, 6-2, 5-7, 7-5, in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championships
- Fell in the second round of the NCAA tournament to sixth-ranked Luisa Stefani from Pepperdine, 6-0, 6-2

- Mercedes Hammond, daughter of Amy and Michael Hammond, was born on May 25, 1997
- Has one sister, Bethany, who is 16 years old
- Played piano for 11 years and enjoys water-skiing, jet-skiing and fishing in her free time
