2011 - SOPHOMORE
Was 1-5 with a 6.05 ERA and one save in 17 appearances, including six starts. Stuck out 21 batters in 47.2 innings, the third-highest workload on the squad.
Collected the first save of his collegiate career at Kentucky on March 19 with 3.2 innings of relief, during which he struckout three and allowed two runs on four hits.
Made his first start and recorded his only victory of the season at a big moment for the Vols, coming through with five scoreless frames to lead UT to a 1-0 victory (7 inn.), doubleheader sweep and series win at Alabama on April 16.
Suffered losses in each of his next five starts (4/24 vs. Georgia, 5/1 at Vanderbilt, 5/7 vs. Mississippi State, 5/14 at LSU and 5/20 vs. Auburn).
Twirled a career-high 6.2 innings in his start at LSU.
2010 - FRESHMAN
Made 21 appearances during his rookie campaign, compiling a 2-2 record and 17 strikeouts in 31.0 innings. Was perfect in his collegiate debut, throwing two flawless frames against Xavier on Feb. 19 with two strike outs.
Made it five scoreless frames to open his career with four strikeouts in three innings against Eastern Kentucky on March 3.
Suffered the first loss of his career after allowing three runs, only one earned, on five hits in two innings against Kennesaw State on March 6.
First collegiate win came against Lipscomb on April 13 as he retired all three batters he faced out of the bullpen.
Suffered the second loss of his career after giving up three runs on one hit, two walks and a wild pitch at Mississippi State on April 17.
Earned his second win on April 21 with 4.2 innings of scoreless relief at Western Carolina...Retired the first 11 batters he faced in that contest.
Made his first collegiate start in the second game of a doubleheader against Vanderbilt on April 25, lasting two innings and allowing three runs on two hits, three walks and a hit batter.
Played on the Thomasville HiToms in the Coastal Plains League over the summer, making 20 relief appearances and posting a 4.18 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 32.1 innings of work.
HIGH SCHOOL
Graduated from South Gwinnett High School in Loganville, Ga., where he was coached by Steve Teschner. Rated by PGCrosschecker.com as one of the Top 300 high school prospects in the country.
Was also rated as the No. 16 overall prospect and No. 9 pitching prospect in the state of Georgia.
Played four years of baseball and two of basketball at South Gwinnett H.S.
Was the 2009 Gwinnett County Player of the Year in baseball as well as First-Team All-Gwinnett County, a player of the month and tallied the lowest earned run average in the county (0.58) as a senior.
Also picked up Second-Team All-Gwinnett County and player of the month accolades as both a sophomore and junior in 2007 and 2008.
Recorded a .333 batting average with eight home runs and 22 RBIs, while posting a 7-1 pitching mark with a 0.58 ERA and 40 strikeouts as a senior for the Region 8-AAAAA Champion Comets.
Hit .356 with three HR[apos]s, 19 RBIs, a 5-5 pitching record, a 2.25 ERA and 24 K[apos]s in [apos]08 and hit .400 overall with three big flies, 21 RBIs, a 4-5 pitching record, a 3.81 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 2007.
As a high school freshman in 2006, Blount was 1-2 from the mound with 12 K[apos]s and a 4.62 ERA.
Averaged a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds as a center on the South Gwinnett basketball team as a rookie in 2006 and followed that up with a six-point, 12-carom average during his sophomore hardwood campaign (2007).
Played club baseball for both Team Georgia and Team Elite, winning the Tournament of Stars with the former in 2008.
Chose to come to Tennessee over Georgia Tech.
