- Completed his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology in May of 2022
- Son of Kennie and Denise Steenstra
- Has one sibling, Peyton
- His father, Kennie, was a standout pitcher at Wichita State prior to being selected in the 12th round of the 1992 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs. He made his Major League debut on May 21, 1998, and went on to make four appearances for the Cubs. Kennie currently serves as the pitching coach for the AAA Norfolk Tides in the Baltimore Orioles organization
- His mother, Denise Brungardt-Steenstra, was a star track & field athlete at Wichita State, earning NCAA Outdoor All-America honors in the heptathlon in 1993 and finished 15th at the U.S. Olympic Trials in the heptathlon in 1996
- Both parents, Kennie (1999) and Denise (2001), have been inducted in the Wichita State’s Shocker Sports Hall of Fame
- Competed in triathlons as a kid
- Recipient of the Champe Summerson Hyatt Athletic Scholarship Fund
