Brian Gearity enters his ninth season as the Tennessee baseball strength and conditioning coach. Known simply as 'G' in the clubhouse, Gearity[apos]s knowledgeable and innovative approaches to weight training and physical performance mold the Vols into top physical condition year after year.
Shortly after the Vols[apos] appearance in the 2005 NCAA College World Series, Gearity was one of eight elite strength and conditioning professionals selected to represent the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) on a People to People ambassador trip to China.
The Beachwood, Ohio, native was an Ohio state teenage powerlifting champion and has previous baseball experience as a strength and conditioning intern with the Cleveland Indians major league club from 1999-2001.
His plethora of professional accreditations and certifications include being a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.) by the NSCA and an ATC-Certified athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).
Gearity also boasts the titles of Level II Sprint Coach and Level I All-Around Track and Field Coach by the USA Track and Field Organization and is Club-Coach Certified by the USA Weightlifting Organization.
Gearity holds a bachelor[apos]s degree in exercise science & physical education with a concentration in athletic training from John Carroll University as well as a master[apos]s degree in sport management from Tennessee.
He trains many pro baseball players, including some Major Leaguers, in the off-season. Those standouts include Josh Alley, Jordan Czarniecki, Scot Drucker, Chase Headley, Luke Hochevar, Eli Iorg, Mike Lincoln, Joe Nathan and Sean Watson.
