Woodruff Adds Top-Notch Junior Standout Daniel Jovanovski
May 19, 2026 | Men's Tennis
Daniel Jovanovski, who has been ranked as high as No. 25 in the world according to ITF, became the Tennessee men's tennis team's second freshman signee for 2026-27, Vol Head Coach Chris Woodruff announced Tuesday.
The Australian has a career-best ITF junior ranking of 25 and is currently rated at No. 32 in the world with a UTR of 12.81.
"Daniel is one of the most engaging and genuine recruits I have ever dealt with," Associate Head Coach Matt Lucas said. "He is an exceptional athlete who possesses an all-court game that will only mature and get better once in a very structured environment in Knoxville."
Jovanovski is a highly-decorated player, winning six singles and three doubles titles in his time in juniors. Four of the six singles titles have come within the last year, including a J300 Kuching title in April.
The 6-foot-1 righty also has some experience on the ATP tour, ranking 1,616 in singles and 1,132 in doubles.
"Daniel was an elite soccer player and only has focused solely on tennis for the last few years, which makes his achievements even more impressive. He has high aspirations in the game, and we believe he has the skills and mindset to reach those lofty goals. Daniel comes from a great family, and we couldn't be more excited to sign one of the best junior players in the world," Lucas added.
Jovanovski comes to Rocky Top with more than 100 wins, including 92 victories and a 70-percent win rate on hard surfaces.
Joining five-star recruit Adrien Abarca, Jovanovski is the second member of the 2026 spring signing class for the Big Orange.
