April 01, 2026 | Women's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 15 University of Tennessee women's tennis team (11-6, 6-5) is set to continue the 2026 dual slate this weekend, as it plays at No. 33 South Carolina (9-10, 2-9) on Thursday before staying on the road to meet the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (13-4, 8-3) on Saturday at Barksdale Stadium. Thursday's first serve is slated for 5 p.m., while Saturday's matchup will begin at 3 p.m.
Tennessee went 1-1 last week, first dropping a 4-3 decision to the then-No. 11 Vanderbilt Commodores on Friday before defeating the Missouri Tigers on Sunday, 4-0.
Senior Leyla Britez Risso claimed two singles victories in the matches with the Commodores and Tigers, now boasting a stellar 17-1 singles record in 2026. That includes a 14-1 ledger in dual matches.
The Lady Vols, after starting the season winning just five doubles points through their first 11 matches, have since claimed six in a row. Their performances in doubles have been led by the No. 28 Britez Risso and Catherine Aulia duo, which has gone undefeated during that stretch.
Scouting South Carolina
The Gamecocks enter Thursday's matchup having lost each of their last seven matches. After starting conference play with a 2-2 record, South Carolina has since claimed only six total dual points. South Carolina currently has two ranked singles entries, No. 50 Helena Buchwald and No. 57 Kaitlyn Carnicella. It also has two ranked doubles entries, headlined by the nation's No. 12 duo of Buchwald and Lauren Friedman.
Scouting Georgia
The Bulldogs, the 2025 NCAA Champions and current No. 1 team in the nation, enter the weekend with a 13-4 record and are coming off a 4-1 loss to Oklahoma. The team currently boasts six ranked singles entries and four ranked doubles pairs. They are led in the rankings by Aysegul Mert, who is No. 7 on ITA's singles list. She is also No. 7 in the doubles rankings, alongside Deniz Dilek.
