Sophia Knight Named SEC Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Following an outstanding weekend at the plate, Tennessee junior Sophia Knight has been named SEC Player of the Week.
A leadoff slap hitter, Knight went 11-for-13 (.846) with a .923 slugging percentage and .857 on-base percentage. She drew one walk and recorded two stolen bases, including a steal of home against Mercer. She also added an RBI single versus the Bears.
The outfielder scored seven runs over the weekend. On Sunday, she roped a double against Southern Illinois as part of a 4-for-4 performance. This season, Knight has recorded four two-hit games, three three-hit games and one four-hit outing.
Knight is batting .543 through 14 games with 18 runs scored, seven walks and 10 stolen bases.
It marks the third consecutive week a Lady Vol has earned weekly honors. Karlyn Pickens and Erin Nuwer claimed SEC Pitcher of the Week accolades the previous two weeks. Knight is the first Tennessee player to earn SEC Player of the Week honors since Rylie West on Feb. 12, 2024.
Knight and the Lady Vols will host the Tennessee Invitational from Feb. 27-March 1. The home-opening weekend will feature Penn State, Appalachian State and North Carolina Central.
