Dominant Singles Play Leads To Vol Triumph Over Chattanooga, 6-1
February 18, 2026 | Men's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee men's tennis clinched its 19th all-time win over Chattanooga, 6-1, thanks to a dominant singles performance during Wednesday's match at Goodfriend Tennis Center.
The Big Orange did not let up after a slow start, sweeping Chattanooga in singles.
Tennessee fell short in the doubles category after losing sets on courts one and three. Neither duo was able to take control, with Chattanooga's Jaxon Lamb and Carter Ramthun besting Dragos Cazacu and Piotr Siekanowicz, 6-1. The tandem of Alejandro Moreno and Boruch Skierkier gained momentum on court three, but it eventually lost the doubles point, 6-3, to the Mocs' Jakub Jupa and Cortland Grove.
After doubles play, the competition was moved indoors for singles due to inclement weather. UT bounced back early on with Jan Kobierski defeating Cortland Grove, 6-4, 6-1, and Ethan Muza besting Kristof Kincses, 6-1, 6-3. Moreno later gained another point for the Vols over Jupa, 6-4, 6-4. Moreno is now two singles wins from 70 in his career. Skierkier captured the final point of the match, topping Chattanooga's Martin Delnido, 6-3, 6-3.
To round out the match, Jose Garcia and Shion Itsusaki clinched wins to secure the singles sweep.
