#7 Tennessee Caps Weekend with 6-0 Win

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The seventh-ranked Lady Vols capped their perfect run at the Tennessee Invitational with a 6-0 victory over Indiana State on Sunday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. Tennessee (19-3), outscored its opponents 48-0 throughout the tournament.
Tennessee's pitching staff dominated the weekend, allowing just seven hits, issuing three walks, and striking out 44 batters across 28 innings. Five different pitchers started in the circle for the Lady Vols, and sophomore Sage Mardjetko closed the tournament with a stellar performance in Sunday's finale.
Mardjetko (6-1) tossed a complete game, striking out a career-high 15 batters while giving up just two hits and one walk. Offensively, Kinsey Fiedler, Sophia Nugent and Laura Mealer led the charge. Fiedler went 2-for-3 with two triples, tying Tennessee's single-game record, while Nugent and Mealer each hit two-run home runs.
Tennessee struck first in the second inning when Nugent launched a two-run homer to left field, giving the Lady Vols a 2-0 lead. In the third, Fiedler's sixth triple of the season set up Mealer, who blasted a two-run homer down the left-field line to extend the lead to 4-0.
Indiana State threatened in the fourth with two runners on and two outs, but Mardjetko struck out her 10th batter to end the inning and keep the Sycamores scoreless. Tennessee added another run in the fourth when Destiny Rodriguez's sacrifice fly to center field brought in Gabby Leach, pushing the lead to 5-0. Fiedler's second triple of the game, this one down the right-field line, allowed Ella Dodge to score, making it 6-0.

Fiedler extended her reached-base streak to 21 games, while Gibson pushed her streak to 20 games, dating to the end of the 2024 season.
