Lady Vols Overpower Wildcats To Close Fall Season

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee swim and dive closed out its fall schedule with a dominating performance at home against Kentucky at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. The #8 Lady Vols got a convincing win over the Wildcats by a score of 205.5-93.5. The #9 Vols ended their fall schedule with a strong performance as well, defeating #21 Kentucky by a score of 171.66.
It was a big day at the pool for Ella Jansen, a part of three wins for the Lady Vols and a pair of top 10 performances. Jansen's first victory came in the 200 Fly, where she recorded a 1:53.90. That time moved her up fifth all-time in the event in program history. Jansen earned another win on Thursday coming in the 200 Back. The Canadian put up a blistering time of 1:53.53, which moved her into the top 10 as well at seventh all-time. Jansen closed out her day as she helped the 400 Free Relay team with Emily Brown, Julian Burroughs, and Emily Armen to a win with a time of 3:16.21. The Lady Vols also earned second place in the 400 Free Relay, with the 'B' team of Amelia Mason, Lilly Robertson, Mere Whelehan, Jillian Crooks finishing with a time of 3:19.80.
Camille Spink earned a pair of wins for the Lady Vols, coming in the 100 and 200 Free. Spink logged a time of 47.22 in the 100 Free for the win, while also notching a 1:45.03 in her first place performance in the 200 Free. Spink also picked up a second place in the 200 IM, finishing the race with a 1:57.63. Lexi Stephens took home first place in the 100 Back for the Lady Vols, closing out her fall with an impressive 52.67. Simone Moll had her first win of the year, winning the 100 Breast with a time of 1:00.36. She was joined by Emelie Fast (2nd; 1:00.48) and Tori Brostowitz (1:00.80) as the Lady Vols swept the event.
The ladies kept up their domination in the dual, earning another sweep in the 50 Free. Jillian Crooks got the win for the Lady Vols, with Emily Armen and Julia Burroughs taking second and third. Burroughs also logged a win in the 500 Free for Tennessee, finishing with a 4:48.13. Armen had herself another podium finish, coming second in the 500 Free with a 4:48.59. Freshman Amelia Mason had her first win for Tennessee on Thursday, with the Boulder, Colorado-native winning the 100 Fly. Emily Brown took the win in the 200 IM, finishing with a time of 1:55.52.
On the men's side, Martin Espernberger took wins in both the 100 and 200 Fly events. Espernberger logged a 47.13 in the 100 Fly and a 1:43.89 in the 200 Fly to take the competitions. Nikoli Blackman had a strong day for the Vols, with wins in the 50 and 100 Free. Blackman was a part of a three-way tie in the 50 Free with Pedro Sansone, all touching the wall at 19.41. Blackman raced out to another quality performance in his 100 Free victory, finishing with a 42.34. Ulises Saravia doubled up on wins as well for the Vols, picking up first place finishes in both the 100 and 200 Back.
Gabe Nunziata kept up his great start to his collegiate career, as the freshman picked up a victory in the 100 Breast. Nunziata closed out his day with another podium finish, finishing second in the 200 IM. Koby Bujak-Upton got on the winning side as well for the Big Orange, with his time 1:33.04 good for a victory in the 200 Free.

- Nick Simons and Anthony Laurito helped secure a sweep for Tennessee in the 200 Back, with Simons placing second and Laurito coming in third. Laurito would also check in with a podium later in the dual, taking third in the 200 IM
- Mac Clark got a podium in the 1,000 Free, finishing with a time of 9:04.99 in the distance event.
- Grayson Nye finished the 200 Breast with a time of 1:58.04, good enough for third place for the Vols.
