BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee forward Reese Mattern was named SEC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
The Charlottesville, Virginia, native provided a spark for the Lady Vols during their match against ETSU and found the back of the net in the 64th minute for the game winner.
Mattern has made an immediate impact, starting in all four matches played and logging 245 minutes of game action while leading the Big Orange with six shots on goal.
The rookie's first collegiate goal was a left-footed beauty assisted by Mac Midgley and Sammi Woods to secure Tennessee's second win of the season.
This is Mattern's first SEC weekly honor of her career.Â
Mattern and the rest of the Lady Vols are back in action Sunday and will travel to Duke for a 5 p.m. ET match.Â
