Rylie West Tabbed to SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee senior Rylie West has been named to the 2024 SEC Softball Community Service Team – the second consecutive year she has received the honor. The Community Service Team looks to highlight athletes from each respective institution who give back to their community in superior service efforts.
West has been involved in numerous community service and volunteer projects during her time on Rocky Top. Accumulating 57 hours of service, she is active with Girls Inc. after-school softball practices along with Emerald Youth Softball clinics.
She also went on Tennessee's VOLeaders trip to Rwanda where she was able to use her platform in athletics to promote Shooting Touch, Together in Sport and Girls Space. She has also been heavily involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Read Across America and assisting with Knoxville Area Rescue Ministry's Community Holiday Meal.
A native of Eastvale, California, West is a 2024 recipient of the Torchbearer Award, the highest student honor conferred by the University of Tennessee. Torchbearer honorees are seniors who have served their alma mater with overall excellence. The Torchbearer is awarded for academic achievement and outstanding commitment to others as demonstrated by the student's various activities and significant contributions to the university and the community.
West and the back-to-back SEC regular season champion Lady Vols travel to Auburn, Alabama, this week for the 2024 SEC Tournament. Tennessee will begin its run at the tournament on Thursday at 11 a.m. ET as the No. 1 seed, facing either 8th-seeded LSU or 9th-seeded Alabama.
