Men’s Golf Central: NCAA Championships

CARLSBAD, Calif. – The No. 5 Tennessee men's golf team begins play at the NCAA Championships Friday at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa.
Consisting of 30 teams, the NCAA Championships are set to run from Friday through next Wednesday.
Friday through Sunday will feature 18 holes of stroke play each day for each of the 30 teams. Following the third round of stroke play Sunday, the top 15 teams will play an additional 18 holes on Monday, At the conclusion of the fourth round, the top eight teams will then advance to the match play bracket, which will be completed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tennessee qualified for this year's NCAA Championships by way of finishing second at the Austin Regional. Bryce Lewis led the Big Orange with a fifth-place finish as Lance Simpson notched a career-high showing after tying for ninth.
The Vols enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed with an overall record of 123-26-1 and program-record-tying three team titles.
THE VOLS' LINEUP
Jake Hall
Hall, who is an All-SEC Second Team selection, has seven top-25 finishes on the season with a team-leading 23 rounds of par or better. Most recently, Hall notched a top-20 finish at the NCAA Austin Regional.
Evan Woosley-Reed
Woosley-Reed has provided a consistency for the Big Orange and enters the NCAA Championships with a 70.11 season stroke average. The sophomore holds seven top-25 finishes and is coming off a top-15 finish at the Austin Regional where he shot even-par overall.
Bryce Lewis
Lewis, who is the program's fourth three-time All-SEC selection, is coming off four consecutive showings inside the top 15. The Hendersonville, Tennessee, native enters the tournament with a team-best 69.97 season stroke average.
Bruce Murphy
The SEC All-Freshman honoree boasts a 71.78 season stroke average and has also logged two top-five finishes on the season, including an individual title at the Wolfpack Individual Invitational.
Lance Simpson
Simpson currently owns a 71.27 season stroke average and notched a top-10 finish at regionals to propel the Vols into a second-place finish.
