#5 Vols Conclude Opening Round at NCAA Championships

CARLSBAD, Calif. – The No. 5 Tennessee men's golf team completed its opening round of the NCAA Championships Friday and enters round two in 24th place.
The Vols shot 17-over as a team during round one.
Tennessee, along with the rest of the field, will play two more rounds of stroke play. Following Sunday's round, the field will be cut to 15 teams. The Vols are currently seven shots outside the top 15.
Evan Woosley-Reed led Tennessee on Friday, shooting 2-over for the day. The Shelbyville, Tennessee, native enters round two tied for 41st.
Redshirt freshman Bruce Murphy shot a round-one 76 and enters round two tied for 81st at 4-over.
Redshirt sophomore Lance Simpson sits one shot back of Murphy and logged a 77 on day one. Simpson sits tied for 97th ahead of Saturday's round.
Redshirt senior Bryce Lewis shot a 78 in round one and is tied for 112th going into round two.
Jake Hall posted an 80 in the opening round and currently sits tied for 135th.
