Kotzen, Moreno Conclude Time at ITA Sectionals

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Tennessee men's tennis players Alex Kotzen and Alejandro Moreno wrapped up competition at the ITA Sectional Championships, hosted at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center.
Playing together as a doubles pair, Moreno and Kotzen earned two consecutive victories to open the tournament by way of conquering No. 20 Julien Penzlin/Aleksi Lofman (LSU) 6-3, 3-6, 11-9, and securing a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Richard Biagiotti/Gabriele Brancatelli of Georgia Tech.
In the doubles semifinals, the duo suffered a 0-6, 3-6 defeat to No. 41 Youcef Rihane/Alex Bulte of Florida State. The squad placed fourth overall after dropping the third-place match to Mario Martinez Serrano/Niccolo Baroni (Mississippi State) 4-6, 4-6.
Moreno started his singles journey on Thursday in the round of 32 against Noah Schlagenhauf of Ole Miss, where he tallied a 5-7, 6-0, 6-3 victory. The following day, the Knoxville native was defeated by Niccolo Baroni of Mississippi State 3-6, 1-6.
