SEC Releases Lady Vols’ 2024 Conference Slate
September 20, 2023 | Softball
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference unveiled the 2024 league schedule for all 13 softball teams on Wednesday afternoon.
The reigning SEC champion Lady Vols will open their title defense at home against Missouri March 15-17. Tennessee's remaining home series will feature Georgia (April 5-7), LSU (April 19-21) and Kentucky (May 3-5).
UT will play back-to-back road series, beginning with South Carolina (March 22-24) and Auburn (March 29-31). The final two road series sees Tennessee visit Mississippi State (April 12-14) and Alabama (April 26-28).
Seven of the Lady Vols' eight SEC opponents played in an NCAA regional last season with two of those teams advancing to an NCAA super regional. Like Tennessee, Alabama finished its season in Oklahoma City.
The 2024 SEC Tournament will be held at Auburn's Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn, Alabama. The tournament will begin on Tuesday, May 7 with the championship game slated to be played on Saturday, May 11.
Tennessee is coming off a 2023 campaign that saw it win both the SEC regular season and tournament titles in the same season for the first time in program history. The Lady Vols also reached the Women's College World Series for the eighth time under head coach Karen Weekly.
UT returns 18 players from last year's team and welcomed the nation's No. 15 ranked signing class by Extra Inning Softball to go along with a pair of highly touted additions from the transfer portal. D1Softball listed Tennessee's transfer class as No. 9 in the nation.
The Lady Vols' 2024 SEC schedule can be seen below. All series are currently slated to be played Friday-Sunday but are subject to change to Saturday-Monday based on television. Those altered dates will be announced when the TV schedule is released in January or February.
Tennessee's full 2024 schedule will be released later this fall.
