DUAL MEET RECAP
- Competed in five meets during the regular season
- Scored pair of top-four finishes in the dual meet finale against Florida, taking second in the 100 backstroke (54.64) and fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:00.53)
2016-17 - FRESHMAN
SEC MEET RECAP
- Finished 26th in the 100 backstroke (54.51) to get the second alternate spot
- Placed 37th in the 50 freestyle (23.36) and 53rd in the 100 freestyle (51.47)
DUAL MEET RECAP
- Continued with her primary events -- the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke -- into her college career, competing in five fall meets in addition to the USA Swimming Winter Nationals. Her top times included: 23.70 in the 50 free (USA Winter Nationals), 53.05 in the 100 free (USA Winter Nationals), 1:55.24 in the 200 free (NC State GAC Invite) and 56.06 in the 100 back (USA Winter Nationals).
PRIOR TO TENNESSEE
- Finished 2nd in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke at the Tennessee High School State Championships
- Also competed in volleyball and tennis in addition to swimming
- USA Swimming Junior Winter Nationals qualifier

- Matt Kredich says, "We're really excited about Mary Cayten. She's a relative newcomer to the sport as a year round pursuit, and she is improving rapidly. Her background in other sports has helped her develop into a fantastic athlete, and that athleticism should allow her to step into this program and progress to the point where she is competitive for points in conference and eventually at NCAA level. There is no question though that she'll have an immediate impact on our team through her character and personality. She's got great energy and enthusiasm for swimming and for Tennessee."
