Race Central: Big Ten Invitational

SARASOTA, Fla. – Back in action for the second weekend in a row, Tennessee rowing returns to action Friday and Saturday for the Big Ten Invitational.

The 18th-ranked Lady Vols will compete in three sessions during the two-day regatta at Nathan Benderson Park. Live results and a live stream for the Big Ten Invitational will be available on HereNOW.

Nine of the 16 teams in the field are currently ranked inside the top 20 of the latest Pocock CRCA Coaches Poll, including No. 2 Stanford, No. 6 Brown, No. 11 Ohio State, No. 12 Duke, No. 13 Michigan, No. 15 SMU, No. 19 Alabama and No. 20 Indiana. Iowa, Michigan State, Rutgers, UCF, UCLA and Wisconsin were receiving votes, while Minnesota rounds out the field.

Tennessee begins competition Friday with a morning session at 9:30 a.m. ET followed by an afternoon session at 2:35 p.m. The regatta will conclude on Saturday with a 9:10 a.m. session.

The Lady Vols will field five boats this weekend, racing three eights and two fours. Tennessee's top two varsity eights have a combined 14-5 record this season. The 2V8 is 8-2 and earned Big 12 Boat of the Week honors after the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite, while the 1V8 boasts a 6-3 mark.

The Big Orange opens the regatta against No. 19 Alabama, Iowa and Wisconsin in the morning session Friday before racing against No. 2 Stanford, Rutgers and Minnesota to close out the day. On Saturday, Tennessee squares off against the Hawkeyes for the second time on the weekend along with Michigan State and UCF.
