RACE CENTRAL: Lake Wheeler Invitational

RALEIGH, N.C.– Tennessee rowing is back in action this weekend at the Lake Wheeler Invitational, where the Lady Vols will once again take on some of the nation's top teams.

The Big Orange, which sits just outside the top 20 in the polls with the second-most votes received, will compete in three sessions during the two-day regatta at Lake Wheeler. Live results will be available on Regattatiming.com, and the event will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra (links can be found below on the schedule).

The Lady Vols will field five boats this weekend, racing three eights and two fours. UT's 2V8 and 2V4 crews have garnered Big 12 Boat of the Week honors this season. The second varsity eight owns an impressive 16-3 record on the season, while the 2V4 is 12-5 for the spring.

Eight of the 18 teams in the field are currently ranked inside the top 20 or received votes in the latest Pocock CRCA Coaches Poll, including No. 8 Penn, No. 9 Syracuse, No. 14 Duke and No. 19 Iowa. In addition to Tennessee, others receiving votes includes Alabama, Clemson and Boston University. Rounding out the field is Boston College, Georgetown, Kansas, Louisville, Miami, Navy, North Carolina, Oklahoma, UCF and Washington State.

UT begins competition Friday with a morning session at 10:24 a.m. ET followed by an afternoon slate at 3 p.m. The regatta will conclude on Saturday with a 9 a.m. round. Here's the full weekend schedule:
