AUSTIN, Texas — The Big Orange has arrived in the Lone Star State as Tennessee track & field gets set for the 95th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. The highly anticipated meet featuring dozens of nationally ranked programs runs Wednesday, March 29, through Saturday, April 1, at the site of the 2023 outdoor national championships—Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
Action for Tennessee begins with redshirt junior Chandler Hayden competing in the women's hammer throw Thursday morning at noon ET. Tennessee's trip to Texas will conclude with the Volunteer men running the historic Cleburn Price, Jr. Invitational 4x400-meter relay on Saturday at approximately 5:45 p.m.
Several Vols and Lady Vols are set to make their outdoor season debuts in Austin, including 2023 indoor All-Americans Hayden, Jacious Sears, Charisma Taylor, Emmanuel Bynum, Javonte Harding and Jesse Henderson. Accepted entries and a full meet schedule can be viewed and downloaded at the links above.
Longhorn Network will provide exclusive broadcast coverage throughout the weekend, while live results will be available via relays.texassports.com.
LAST TIME OUT: Tennessee opened the 2023 outdoor campaign at NC State's Raleigh Relays last weekend with more than 30 athletes competing over the course of the meet. Sophomore Rachel Sutliff stood out in the women's 10,000-meter, running an SEC leading and all-time Lady Vol No. 3 time of 33:54.26 in the 25-lap gauntlet.
On the men's side, graduate student Devon Brooks made his Tennessee debut and was victorious in the 110-meter hurdles with a mark of 13.70 seconds, which currently ranks fifth in the NCAA and seventh in the world this season. Brooks will return to action in the hurdles this weekend in Austin.
UP NEXT: Rocky Top will serve as host of the Tennessee Invite next weekend, with UT's annual home meet scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, April 6-8 at Tom Black Track. The Big Orange will welcome more than 20 collegiate programs to the meet and will honor its senior class of 24 athletes on Saturday at approximately 3:10 p.m.
