Men’s Golf Central: Bryan NCAA Regional
May 15, 2022 | Men's Golf
The No. 4-seeded Tennessee men's golf team is set to begin NCAA action this week, teeing off from the Bryan Regional.
The Bryan Regional, as well as the other five regionals around the nation, is scheduled to run from Monday through Wednesday with one round of competition each day. The top five teams from each regional will then advance to the national championships, to be played from May 27 to June 1 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Located just outside Texas A&M University's campus and hosted by the Aggies, the Bryan NCAA Regional will be contested at the Traditions Club. The 7,146-yard, par-72 course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 2004.
Tennessee has qualified for NCAA Regionals in each of Brennan Webb's seasons at the helm of the program (with the exception of 2020's cancellation). In 2019, the Vols finished in sixth place at the Athens Regional, while last season the Vols tied for second place at the Noblesville Regional and qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2013.
Entering NCAA competition, Tennessee has recorded five top-four team finishes this season, as well as 13 individual top-10 finishes. The Vols are coming off of a seventh-place stroke play finish at the SEC Championships, qualifying for match play for the third straight year.
Four of the five members of Tennessee's lineup boast NCAA Regional experience. Spencer Cross, Bryce Lewis and Hunter Wolcott all competed at the Noblesville Regional last year, while Wolcott and Tyler Johnson were both in the lineup for the 2019 Athens Regional. Wolcott also competed for the Vols in the 2018 Columbus Regional.
