Lady Vols Fall in Road Battle With #13 Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – Tennessee fell in its first road match of the weekend to No. 13 Auburn, 6-1, Friday afternoon at Yarbrough Tennis Center.
"We certainly made it difficult to get back into the match today with the performance in doubles," associate head coach Jarryd Chaplin said. "I think we played a stretch of tennis that was good today. Unfortunately, it didn't last long enough. That was a good team that we played against and they fought very hard today, we knew they would. While there is still season in front of us, Sunday becomes an opportunity to be better than what we were today."
Esther Adeshina was a bright spot in the Big Orange lineup, collecting a straight-set victory on Court 5, 6-2, 6-2, over Adeline Flach.
The Lady Vols (12-8, 6-6 SEC) forced three matches into a third set, coming on Court 1, 2 and 3. Daria Kuczer was also in a grind-it-out match on Court 4, falling 7-6(7), 6-3.

SEC TOURNAMENT SCENARIOS
With a victory on Sunday and an Arkansas loss, Tennessee would claim the 6-seed in next weekend's SEC Tournament. With an Arkansas victory, or a UT loss, on Sunday would put the Lady Vols in the seventh position.
