SARASOTA, Fla. – After having last weekend off, Tennessee rowing returns to action Friday and Saturday for the Big Ten Invitational.
The 18th-ranked Lady Vols will compete in three sessions during the two-day regatta at Nathan Benderson Park, which is also the host of the 2022 NCAA Championships. Live results for the Big Ten Invitational will be posted on HereNOW.
Ten of the 16 teams in the field are currently ranked inside the top 20 of the latest Pocock CRCA Coaches Poll, including No. 2 Stanford, No. 6 Michigan, No. 7 Brown, No. 8 Ohio State, No. 10 Duke, No. 12 Virginia, No. 17 Rutgers, No. 19 Washington State and No. 20 Indiana. Dartmouth, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Notre Dame and Wisconsin will also compete throughout the two-day regatta.
Competition opens Friday with a morning session starting at 8:30 a.m. ET followed by an afternoon session at 2:15 p.m. The regatta will conclude on Saturday with an 8:30 a.m. session.
The Lady Vols will field six boats this weekend, racing three eights and three fours. Tennessee's varsity eight, which owns a 9-2 record and has won three Big 12 Boat of the Week honors this season, will look to continue its success.
UT's 1V8, 2V8 and 1V4 boats will take on 20th-ranked Indiana, Dartmouth and Michigan State in the first session Friday before racing against No. 12 Virginia, Iowa and Wisconsin to close out the day. On Saturday, Tennessee squares off against the Hoosiers for the second time on the weekend along with 10th-ranked Duke and Minnesota.
