Race Central: Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee rowing opens its spring slate this weekend with the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite on Saturday and Sunday.

The 20th-ranked Lady Vols will join the host team Louisville and nine other squads on Melton Hill Lake. In attendance will be No. 11 Yale, No. 14 Duke, No. 16 Alabama and No. 17 Wisconsin along with Clemson, Indiana, Navy, Notre Dame and Tulsa – all of which received votes in the Pocock CRCA Coaches Poll.Â
Competition will open on Saturday with a morning session from 9 a.m. ET followed by an afternoon session from 3 p.m. The regatta will conclude on Sunday morning with a 9 a.m. session.
The Lady Vols will field six boats this weekend, racing four eights and two fours. In the first session, the Big Orange will match up against Alabama, Navy and Notre Dame. Those races will begin with the 3V8s at 10:02 and end with a 4V8 contest at 10:34 a.m.
The Lady Vols will close out the second session of the day, going head-to-head with Clemson, Tulsa and Yale. The 1V8s will take the course at 3:02 p.m., and racing will conclude for the day with the 4V8s at 4:14 p.m.
On Sunday, UT will face off against Duke and Navy. After the 4V8s open the day with a 9:54 a.m. race, the 1V8s will kick off the final slate of contests at 10:34, and the final race of the regatta will begin at 11:06 with the 3V8s.Â
