AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Tennessee women's golf team competed in Augusta, Georgia, Saturday as they completed the first of two rounds at the Valspar Augusta Invitational.
The Lady Vols' Kayla Holden logged a +7 (79) performance in the opening round, while freshman Bailey Davis tied that effort. Holden and Davis are each tied at 36th place entering the final 18 holes.
Junior Nicole Whiston, competing as an individual this week, shot 10-over (82) and is tied for 65th, while Vanessa Gilly shot +11 (83) and is T73 ahead of Sunday's action. Hadley Walts (+12, 84) rounded out Tennessee's counting scores and is tied for 77th, while Mikayla Bardwell shot 13-over, 85 on Saturday.
Tennessee stands in 14th place at +37 (325). The tournament will conclude Sunday, with a 10:30 a.m. ET tee time. Sunday will see 18 holes of action, as the event has been abbreviated from 54 holes to 36 holes due to high winds.
