Bardwell Posts Career-Low Score as UT Finishes Seventh at ICON Invitational

HOUSTON – Senior Mikayla Bardwell posted a career-low 54-hole score to lead the Lady Vols to a seventh-place finish during the ICON Invitational at Golf Club of Houston.
The Lewisville, Texas, native finished the tournament tied for sixth place at 7-under par with an overall score of 209. The performance marked Bardwell's 10th top-10 finish of her career.
After two under-par rounds on Monday, she finished the tournament on a high note, carding six of her 13 total birdies during the third round to shoot a season-low score of 4-under (68). This marked her first time shooting under par in all three rounds of a tournament.
Sophomore Kayla Holden shot for par on the back nine before finishing the day at 1-over. She wrapped up the tournament tied for 28th with a score of 217 (+1).
Bailey Davis, a freshman, notched her seventh round of par or better for the year during her final round. She carded two consecutive birdies on the back nine, ending the final round at even par. She tied for 48th place at 7-over.
Vanessa Gilly, a sophomore, shot 2-over (74) in the third round to finish tied for 43rd place (+6, 222). Junior Nicole Whiston finished tied for 68th, carding 4-over to end tied for 68th (+13, 229).
Up next, Tennessee will travel to Gainesville, Florida, to compete in the Gator Invitational at Mark Bostick Golf Course on March 5-6.
