Women’s Golf Central: ICON Invitational

HOUSTON – The Tennessee women's golf team returns to action this week, competing in the ICON Invitational for its first action of the spring. The tournament is set to run Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 21-22.
The 15-team field will complete three rounds in two days, with 36 holes of action Monday, followed by the 18-hole third round Tuesday.
LADY VOLS' LINEUP
Kayla Holden
Appearing in four tournaments during the fall season, Holden recorded a top-20 finish at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship by shooting 217 (+4) at Cherokee Country Club. The ICON Invitational serves as Holden's 12th collegiate tournament. The sophomore has a low round of 71 this season.
Mikayla Bardwell
One of two seniors for the Lady Vols, Bardwell competed in two tournaments during the fall season, with two rounds of par or better and a low round of 69, which came at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship in Knoxville where she finished tied for 32nd.
The second round in Houston will mark Bardwell's 100th round as a Lady Vol and will come in the 35thtournament of her collegiate career. Her current career average of 73.93 would stand as the fifth-best in program history.
Vanessa Gilly
Gilly, a sophomore from Venezuela, recorded one top-25 finish in the fall, with a low round of 70. Her best performance was seen at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, as she logged her second-best finish in the individual standings since arriving on Rocky Top with a three-round score of 216 (+3).
Bailey Davis
Davis enjoyed a stellar fall debut with the Lady Vols, logged appearances in each of Tennessee's five fall tournaments. At the Jim West Challenge, the freshman logged three rounds of par or better, including two under-par rounds of 69 and 71. She concluded the 54-hole tournament at 4-under, 212, and tied for 17th place.
The first top-10 finish of Davis' Tennessee career came at The Ally, where a season-best score of 67 in the third round secured her a tied-for-sixth finish and marked her second time scoring in the 60s this season.
Nicole Whiston
Entering her 23rd tournament appearance, Whiston's best fall results came at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, where she registered a T20 finish at +4, 217. Whiston's career average is currently 73.95 and she has posted 19 rounds of par or better in her time with the Lady Vols. After recording one top-25 finish in the fall, the junior now has 11 such finishes in her collegiate career.
