
XC Preview – Tennessee Dual

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee men's and women's cross country programs open the 2021 season Friday morning at home with the Tennessee Dual. The meet is slated for an 8:30 a.m. ET start at the Cherokee Farms Cross Country Course.
The Tennessee Dual will see the Vols and Lady Vols go head-to-head with Louisville as both teams race into the new season.
RACE LINEUPS
Men's Four-Mile – 8:30 a.m.
Newcomer Tim Thacker is scheduled to make his Tennessee debut Friday for the men, while a host of returners look forward to a new campaign. A complete race lineup for the men can be seen below.
Canaan Anderson, Riley Buchholz, Alex Crigger, Tom Gardiner, Conner Hawkins, Will Mazur, Matthew McMillian, Eli Nahom, Devin Sullivan, Tim Thacker, Karl Thiessen.
Women's Three-Mile – 9:15 a.m.
The Lady Vols have three newcomers racing Friday, including Brooke Dixon, Rachel Sutliff and Landri Wilcox. The full lineup for the women is listed below.
Msgana Araya, Ainsley Cooper, Brooke Dixon, Kayla Gholar, Avery Jackson, Olivia Janke, Sarah McCabe, Sydney Seymour, Erin Spreen, Rachel Sutliff, Katie Thronson, Callie Tucker, Landri Wilcox.
PRESEASON RANKINGS
Tennessee is ranked fifth in both the men's and women's USTFCCCA South Region preseason rankings. In the SEC, the men and women were picked to finish fifth in the conference by the league's coaches.
LOOK BACK
Last season, the men placed fourth at SEC's with Thiessen taking home Second Team All-SEC honors. Buchholz earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman team as he was the sixth rookie across the line at the conference meet.
On the women's side, Seymour picked up an at-large selection to the NCAA Cross Country Championships, which were run in March due to COVID-19 protocols. The Lady Vol finished in the top-half of the field, placing 105th out of 256 runners.

The meet is open and free to the public. For fan's attending the meet, spectator parking will be in any on-street parking on the UT Research Campus.
UP NEXT
Tennessee follows up the home meet with a trip to Huntsville, Alabama, for the North Alabama Invite. The race will provide UT with a first glimpse at the at the NCAA South Regionals course, which will be contested in November.
